The WC family of four-wheel drive vehicles was developed on behalf of the United States Army in late 1941 and was produced in 1942-45. WC-51 is the base and most numerous model in the family (123,541 cars were produced). 24,902 units WC-51 and WC-52 were sent to the USSR. In the Red Army, they were nicknamed "Three Quarters" because of their 750 kg (3/4 tons) carrying capacity. Initially used as artillery tractors for the division's anti-tank guns, they soon became widely used in all branches of the military - in reconnaissance, accompanied by column, and even as personal transport.
