The swastika is a graphic symbol that has appeared in many cultures and belief systems of the peoples of Europe and Asia since prehistoric times. In the religions of the Indian subcontinent, the swastika was seen as a symbol of divinity and spirituality, and its representations were common in belief systems such as Jainism and Buddhism. It is worth adding that the very name "swastika" almost certainly derives from Sanskrit and means "prosperity". This symbol was also used by the Indo-European peoples who lived in Europe and was seen as a sign of prosperity and good luck. It is worth adding that in the Western cultural circle, the swastika was most often drawn with the arms turned to the left. Unfortunately for this positive symbol, the swastika was used by Adolf Hitler as a symbol of NASDAP and Nazism as such. It was also used on the official flags and flags of the Third Reich and as a symbol of German planes during World War II. At that time, it was painted especially on the horizontal stabilizers of machines. In the years 1933-1945, the swastika became in the Western cultural circle a sign equated precisely with Nazism, but also more broadly - with evil, terror and genocide. For this reason, in many countries after 1945, its use was prohibited by law. It is worth adding that the swastika was also used to designate Finnish (in 1918-1945) and Latvian (until 1940) aircraft.
