Originally designed by Ray Malmstrom and published as a plan in the Eagle Book of Model Aircraft in 1959, Alex Dowell has lovingly redesigned and redrawn the Airflo Glider in 2021. This iconic free flight glider has now been lightened and a new built-up tailplane has been designed for better flight characteristics and performance. After countless hours and prototype gliders, the remastered Airflo Glider was born!
This kit is 95% laser cut – meaning all parts are precisely cut and ready to assemble with the help of the PVA glue included in the kit and some sandpaper (not included). All our parts come packaged in sections for the wing, fuselage and tailplane, so there is little chance of confusion. The canopy is laser cut and pre-scored from 0.5mm clear PETG material – all you need to do is glue it in place.
The instructions, as well as some helpful hints and tips, are presented on the plan and are easy to follow once your build is under way. There are handy 3D views of the model in various stages of the building process to help you get the perfect finished product. The kit also includes a pre-bent tow hook ready to bind to the model to launch from a tow line.

Covering materials are not included in the kit but there are instructions for the traditional method of dope and tissue. Oralight would make an ideal alternative to tissue and dope, but other brands of lightweight covering materials are available.
