Designed as a fast bomber, the Dornier Do 17z could theoretically outrun other fighter aircraft. Known as the ‘Flying Pencil’, the aircraft was used extensively during the blitz in the skies over the county of Kent. One Dornier was shot down into the English Channel and is now under conservation at RAF Cosford.
